When Liverpool announced that Andy Lonergan was due to travel to the US for their preseason tour to work with their goalkeeping department, it did not distract many Liverpool fans from recent rumours that Philippe Coutinho is being linked to a sensational return to Anfield.

The replies on Liverpool’s tweet were filled with many fans demanding the club to ‘Announce Coutinho’. This is in light of recent speculation that Brazil’s Copa America winner will be brought back to Merseyside on a two-year loan deal which will consist of an obligation for Liverpool to purchase him for around £88m.

This would no doubt be a coup for Liverpool, as they would bring back the ‘fab four‘, as dubbed by the media, adding another string to their already impressive attacking bow of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salah and Roberto Firmino.

Coutinho was booed at Anfield earlier in the season when they faced Barcelona in the Champions League, but judging by the response from a lot of Liverpool fans on twitter, he will be welcomed back with open arms.
